Who knew that science could be so yummy! Fifth graders at Brosville Elementary discovered that and how matter changes state with changing temperatures when they made their own ice cream! The homemade ice cream in a bag demonstrated phase changes of matter using temperature. Heat was removed from the liquids, which solidified the molecules. Fourth grade also had a yummy experiment with making their own butter. This lesson tied into scientific investigations to collect and study data and also history as students experienced a small part of how life was in the past.
