Brosville’s kindergarten and Pre-K classes transformed their classroom reading into a lively, schoolwide celebration after finishing Ballooning Over Broadway by Melissa Sweet, a picture book about the puppeteer behind the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Inspired by the story, students created their own balloon-style puppets from whimsical unicorns to jolly gingerbread people and practiced careful handling and marching techniques so their masterpieces could “float” proudly down the hallway.

On parade day, the school corridors filled with music and laughter as balloon scarecrows, snowmen, unicorns, and gingerbread figures made their debut, each one showcasing a child’s imagination. Teachers and staff cheered as they celebrated both literacy and creativity. The event highlighted teamwork, storytelling, and hands-on art, leaving students excited about reading and proud of the puppets they crafted.
